Delicious Rice Recipes
Rice is a staple food of many nations.
It is eaten in a myriad different ways, beginning with just plain rice that is boiled and eaten as a meal by itself or as an accompaniment to other food. Rice may be combined with spices, lentils, herbs, nuts, yogurt, vegetables & meat to create unique, flavorful dishes. Rice is also ground into flour and is used in many desserts and snacks as well.
Choose any brand of rice that you prefer. I have used several kinds of rice and do love brown rice. I keep both brown and white rice and cook either one. Basmathi Rice is the rice I use a lot because it is tasty and cooks very quickly.
A cup of white Basmathi rice cooks on med-high heat in about 12 minutes. Do not cover with a lid as the water will boil over. You may put on the lid on, partially on a lower temperature. A cup of rice, when cooked serves 3 adults.
The type of rice you use will determine the cooking time. At the end of cooking, the rice should be soft to the touch, easily chewable, yet not mushy. There are several ways to cook rice. It can be made in a rice cooker, or cooked on the stove top. Some recipes call for baking the rice together with a combination of ingredients in the final cooking stages. The site includes a few rice recipes but it is hoped to add many more. Contributions from viewers are most welcome.
